JOURNAL #5 What we're doing to #StandWithUkraine

As we redesign our own kitchen at MdQ, we can’t help think of all the people in Ukraine whose sense of home and place has been so cruelly taken from them – of all the kitchens that stand abandoned, empty, or destroyed, but that once were a place for gathering with friends and family, for celebrations, for comfort and safety. 

Bid for Ukraine

To stand in solidarity with the Ukrainian people, we’re collaborating with Design Escapes Portugal, which curates culturally-rich and design-led travel itineraries. 

The company has gathered a host of experiences donated by those working in art, lifestyle, food, drink and hospitality, which will be auctioned off in a raffle with all money raised going to the Choose Love appeal and Medicos Sem Fronteiras. 

As one of those donating, we’re offering a beautiful food experience with wine under our ancient olive tree. You can enter the draw here.  

Eat for Ukraine

We also recently partnered with SEM, an excellent farm-to-table restaurant in Lisboa, to donate all the wine for their dinner-for-Ukraine fundraiser.

We hope to do more, but in the meantime we hugely salute the work of these three amazing women in wine –  Eduarda Dias (Vadio and Herdade de Coelheiros), Francisca Van Zeller (Aveleda), and Mariana Roque do Vale (Santa Clara/ Ermo Wines). 

They have been working tirelessly to match Ukrainian refugees with jobs and accomodation in the Portuguese wine sector. You can read more about their initiative, Nós do Vinho, in our interview with Eduarda.
