Journal #20 The DJ that brings together good things in life

Ricardo Maneira is the founder of the Lisbon gastrobar A Viagem das Horas, where he serves wine, delicious food snacks with a menu inspired by songs and artists, and great music.

It's there that he brings his deep knowledge of music and vinyl records, cultivated with passion over the many years he worked as a DJ. Blending black music, jazz, funk, hip hop, soul, Brazilian, Cuban, and African music with house, Ricardo Maneira, aka DJ Rykardo, continues to play a few sets on very special occasions.

Feet move to the command of restless legs, arms sway, and hair flutters frenetically to the beat of music that flows effortlessly - from funk, hip hop, and soul to Cuban, African, or house rhythms. This is the common scenario: dancing and unstoppable bodies, all driven by the effect of DJ Rykardo’s sets, also known as Ricardo Maneira, the founder of the Lisbon gastrobar A Viagem das Horas, who returns once again to the Open House - Harvest Party at Morgado do Quintão.

Born 45 years ago in Angola and living in Portugal since the age of 14, Ricardo opened the doors of A Viagem das Horas to bring together good things in life — people, music, and wine.

It's no surprise, then, that there is such harmony between Morgado do Quintão and Ricardo, whom we already consider a close friend and who will once again "set the dance floor on fire". From his bar Viagem das Horas, he will bring to the Open House - Harvest Party the eclectic sounds of his vinyl collection and the hours of music he shares there. Where figs and carob were once dried, our threshing floor now awaits all those who want to dance into the night on October 5th.
